Ride Notes and News

Saturday and Sunday MVC Rides -- Be advised that: (1) (as always) we roll neutral until we turn off Lawn Meadow onto FM 2933; and (2) we now turn left onto FM 2933 and head toward Squeezepenney on both Saturday and Sunday -- updated maps will be provided soon, but just after the Squeezepenny sign, turn right onto CR 341, follow it to CR 409 where we turn right again and then rejoin the old route on FM 1827 just to the east of the church.

Wed Nite sprint workouts at Craig Ranch (by the Cooper Clinic) officially start next Wednesday February 3, 2010. The riding starts at 6:00 but we do a loop (counter clockwise) so come when you can and join in when you're warm and ready. Bring your legs and as many lights as you need to feel comfortable... part of the course is reasonable well lighted, but parts are dark. Official start date aside, the Seabass is going to get a jump on the fun and be out there tomorrow night, 2/27/10... and I plan to join him. Come too if you think you're ready for fun, 'Bass style...!

  2. Hey guys, what happened with the Sherrif on Sunday's ride? I was heading back and saw the group had been pulled over.

  3. Our group of 8 was pulled over for not getting into single file so a car could pass. Truth is, we made room, but the car was reluctant to go around on the hills by the sprint finish sign. The officer was actually very nice -- just wanted to remind us that while we have the right to go two abreast (as we were doing to fight the strong NW wind that had broken the ride into pieces), we need to go single file when we're blocking a car. We told him we know what we need to do and we are/were working on being sure the group is extra aware of cars in that area, but were just having a bad day. We also mentioned that we are trying to re-route the ride (through Squeezepenny) on the way out to Blue Ridge to avoid the issue. He kept saying he just wanted to be sure we are safe and he wants us to be able to keep riding out there… our only real complaint with him was that he didn't go stop the group ahead of us so we could catch them. But in any event, we must not let that little stretch through New Hope derail our ability to ride the Sat and Sun routes... that's why we've changed the way we head out.
